Association of Government Veterinarians Privacy Policy

At AGV we respect the privacy of our members. This policy is concerned with how we collect information, what we do with it and what controls you have.

Your Privacy

AGV is a Specialist Division of the British Veterinary Association representing the views of vets currently or previously employed in UK Government Departments and Executive Agencies. We take our duty to process your personal data very seriously. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data.

AGV is the ‘controller’ of the personal data you provide to us on joining the Association. At that time we collect basic information, your name, postal address (optional), work department and location, job title, email address and telephone contact (optional)

We collect the data in order to be able to send you information on the activities of the organisation, to send you information on veterinary matters that we think may be of interest to you and to request information from you. If you do not want to receive information from AGV then please contact the Secretary directly at secretary@agv.org.uk

We collect your information when you join AGV. We do not share your personal data with third parties.

Your personal data is maintained and processed by AGV Council members only (the Secretary and the Treasurer). No one else has access to your data.

We have a lawful reason to use your personal information under ‘performance of a contract’ as you are members of AGV and pay a subscription.

We hold your information for as long as you remain a member of AGV.

Under the new data protection legislation (GDPR, May 2018) you have rights over the personal data we hold on you. They are:

  • To be informed on how we use your personal data
  • To request a copy of the data we hold on you
  • To update the data we hold on you
  • To ask us to stop using your data
  • To remove your data from our records

If you need any more detail on your rights under GDPR please see the Information Commissioners Office website.

If you wish to obtain a copy of the data AGV holds on you or have any questions on our Privacy Policy, please contact the Secretary at secretary@agv.org.uk.
